A basic introduction to the Corrective Action Program for those that are new to RCRA Corrective Action or would like a refresher.

Session B

Green Revitalization:
The Basics

“Green Revitalization” is a holistic approach to the cleanup and revitalization of a property in order to maximize the environmental, social, and economic benefits of a project.

Session C

Contaminant Fate & Transport

A technical presentation and discussion on the understanding fate and transport of contaminants in the environment related to cleanups.

Session D

Starting with the End in Mind

This session will focus how to streamline the corrective action process by focusing on results. We will present approaches and creative solutions to overcoming obstacles and expediting cleanups.

Session E

Risk-based Cleanups/Institutional Controls

Risk-based cleanups and long term stewardship -- how they fit together. Acceptable risk based cleanups must be coupled with effective, easy to implement and enforceable institutional controls to ensure protectiveness of the chosen remedy into the future. Perspectives from industry, state and federal stakeholders will be explored.

Session F

“Learning Corrective Action from the Experts””

A session, primarily for those new to the Corrective Action Program. This session will focus on how to interact with State and Federal regulators on facility issues, as well as getting information on resources, web sites, and other EPA Programs, i.e. Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC), Technology Innovation, etc.

Session G

Selecting Smart Remedies: Complement Engineered Solutions with Institutional Controls

This session will examine the factors that support the selection of a remedy, including cleanup criteria and related matters.

Session H

Financial Assurance for Corrective Action

In the absence of regulations, regions and states take a variety of approaches to financial assurance for corrective action. This session will examine, in particular, how Regions and States develop mechanisms for financial assurance for corrective action.

Session I

Long-Term Stewardship

As more remedies near construction complete with controls, assuring the integrity of the long-term stewardship tools becomes crucial. Learn about creative legal and policy tools from leading thinkers.

Session J

PCB Cleanup and Disposal Programs

This session will include a brief history and intent of the transfer of the PCCB cleanup and disposal program to the Office of Solid Waste. There will be examples and case studies of cleanup at joint RCRA/TSCA remediation sites. It will also address common PCB cleanup issues.

Session K

Vapor Intrusion: Screening Strategies for 2020

The 2020 Corrective Action Universe contains a large number of sites that will need to be assessed for potential vapor intrusion. This session will focus on efficient, cost-effective approaches for assessing the vapor intrusion pathway at these sites, as well as approaches for managing any vapor intrusion exposures in a protective manner.

Creative Solutions to reach the Corrective Action 2020 Program Goals

Address and discuss challenges that Industry, Federal, and State RCRA Corrective Action Project Managers face and demonstrate solutions that have been achieved and lessons learned for future challenges.

Session M

Green Revitalization in Action

Come and learn from case studies of successful green revitalization projects. “Green Revitalization” is a holistic approach to the cleanup and revitalization of a property in order to maximize the environmental, social, and economic benefits of a project.

Session N

Enforcement Approaches for Meeting the 2020 Goals

This session will review some of the enforcement approaches that have been used in the Corrective Action Program to achieve cleanups and will explore new ways that enforcement can used to help meet the 2020 goals.

Session O

RCRA IC/EC Mapping

Region 3 is developing a web-based tracking of Institutional Controls and Engineering Controls for RCRA Corrective Action sites. This presentation will demo how to map these controls by linking the EPA’s Cleanups in my Community (CIMC) web site to RCRAInfo as well as other mapping tools.

How to get to Construction Complete at operating facilities and overcoming technical obstacles.

Session Q

Performance Based Approaches to Remedy Selection: Altus AFB
